I took this photo one hot summer morning back in July of 2007.
The Burlington Northern and the Atchinson, Topeka & Santa Fe railroad companys had merged in the year of 1995, thus becoming todays BNSF Railway. As typical when companys or corporations merge, sometimes it takes a good while to get around to painting over the old colors and markings of the predecessor company.
This former Atchinson, Topeka & Santa Fe covered hopper car, was photographed in transit aboard a westbound BNSF Railway freight train, passing through the Riverside Illinois Metra commuter rail station.
