Eastbound CTA green line train alongside South Boulevard. Oak Park Illinois. October 2006.

I took this photograph one overcast autum morning, back in October of 2006.

An eastbound Chicago Transit Authority green line train, has just departed from the west terminal at North Harlem Avenue and West Lake Street in Oak Park Illinois, and is viewed traveling over the grade seperated embankment alongside South Boulevard in west suburban Oak Park Illinois.

My Chihauhau friend Jasmine. August 2008.

I took this photograph, back in August of 2008.

Seen here in our backyard, is our then recently adopted Chihauhau dog Jasmine, who was just under a year old and still quite the puppy.

Jasmine always greets me with a big warm welcome whenever I come home from work, and I enjoy spending time with her.

Sometimes...I even slip her a little snack or two if she has been a good dog. She is surprisingly polite when she sits next to me or other family members, and begs for a taste of whatever we are dining on.

However....she actually does enjoy a dish of dry kibble dog food as well.

She is a smart dog, and we love her.

Thanks.

Tommy James and the Shondells. Sugar on Sunday.

Hi everyone!
This is Eddie K, Your host and photographer here at Eddie's Railfan Page.

I was born in Chicago during the year of 1962, and had grown up listening to some
of the finest rock and roll, soul, jazz and other varieties of music from the 1960's and 70's, as well as other great music acts to follow.

One of my favorites from the 1960's, was a group from Niles Michigan that had
made it big begining in 1966, known as Tommy James and the Shondells. Sugar
on Sunday was always one of my favorite songs they performed in the late 1960's.

Thanks.

The now empty coat rack inside of Bleeker's Bowl on West 95th Street.Evergreen Park Illinois. (The last day.) Saturday, August 10th, 2013.

I took this photograph this past August, inside of the now closed for good Bleeker's Bowl in south suburban Evergreen Park Illinois.

After many years in businesss and many happy memories for local Evergreen Park residents, Bleeker's Bowl closed for various reasons, mostly economic due to declining bowling league revenues.

If this coat rack in the hallway could just talk, it would proubly have thousands of stories to tell about wintertime bowling league nights, lost or stolen garments, and fashion statements over the years.

Bleeker's Bowl was a fun place to visit on West 95th Street in Evergreen Park Illinois.

Summer is over now, and Kiddieland is now only open on the weekends until the end of the season, until late October when the park closes for the winter off season.

With early darkness during shorter seasonal daylight hours, the Kiddieland Limited train ride, departs for another run around the park's perimeter approximately an hour before closing time.

Kiddieland closed for good in 2009, and now this is the site of a Costco wholesale warehouse club store at North and First Avenues in Melrose Park Illinois.

Convention 72. The Deligates. (A rare and forgotten novelty record from the early 1970's.)

I used to own a copy of this 45 rpm novelty record way back in the 1970's.

This record from the early 1970's, is a spoof about a "What if" convention of Democrats and Republicans alike, featuring sound bite samples from popular songs of the era.

This is a rare and now somewhat forgotten novelty record featuring political humor.

Thanks.

A local Chinese take out restaurant on North Narragansett Avenue in Chicago's Dunning neighborhood. Chicago Illinois. Early September 2013.

During the late 1960's and through a good part of the 1970's, there was this unique fast food Chicken take out chin of stores in Chicago Illinois known as "Chicken Unlimited".

With their tasty and cost effective menu selections, as well as their distinctly unique architecture, they once could be found in many Chicago neighborhoods.

Chicken Unlimited eventually went "Defunct" by the late 1970's and very early 1980's, but several of their former take out store location buildings are still standing today in Chicago, now serving any number of local businesses from auto insurance agencies, electronic stores, auto parts stores, and even other kinds of restaurants.

This former Chicken Unlimited building that has long since stood the test of time, now serves inexpensive Chinese take out food in Chicago's Dunning neighborhood today.

I spotted this railfan video on You Tube.

This video begins at Argo Junction in nearby southwest suburban Summit Illinois, where the Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad, crosses the former Gulf, Mobile & Ohio / ICG mainline just south of the Chicago sanitary and Ship Canal. Argo Tower was demolished by the mid 1990's.

Diana Ross and the Supremes. Someday we'll be together. circa 1970.

1970 was a big year of change, and would also signal the end of an era in the world of music.

Several acts like Diana Ross and the Supremes, The Beatles, The Herman's Hermits and several others, would call it quits and follow other pursuits that year.

This was the final hit song for Diana Ross and the Supremes.

Jasmine the Chihauhau enjoying a little playtime.

Hi everyone!
This is Eddie K, your host and photographer here at Eddie's Railfan Page.

Although this is mostly a transportation enthusiasts blogsite aimed primarily at railfans, I also enjoy taking the time to incorporate those all too important human interest photos and stories as well.

I took this photograph last year.

Me and my wife Cheryl, are proud pet parents of Jasmine, our little Chihauhau dog.

Jasmine had just received this stuffed squeeky dog toy from a visit to Petco, and was now enjoying a little playtime with family.

She was definately in the mood for a game of "Fetch" that afternoon.

The October 1988 Berwyn Houby Day Parade. Berwyn Illinois.

Local seasonal autum festivals, have always been a fun after summer activity for many families to attend in the greater Chicagoland area.

I took this photograph way back in October of 1988. Several makeshift food vendor stands like one would normally see at a carnival, are lining both sides of West Cermak Road, in the west suburban village of Berwyn Illinois.

The event was the popular "Berwyn Houby Day Parade", which is an annual event honoring the original Eueopean "Czech" ethnic heritage of Berwyn's local population.

Berwyn's population today, is an ethnic melding pot consiting of ethnic heritage ranging from European, Mexican / Latino, Indian (India) Italian, and a few other extractions along the way.

Smokey and the bandit. Eastbound and down.

I spotted this cool little "Put together" music video on You Tube.

One of my favorite movies I enjoyed seeing during the late 1970's, was this "Country Comedy" movie entitled "Smokey and the bandit". This movie starred Burt Reynolds, Sally Field, Jackie Gleason, and country singer Jerry Reed.

The late great Jerry Reed sang lead on the popular hit song "Eastbound and down" from the movie.
This is still one of my favorite movie songs today.

I could remember seeing this movie with my Mother, at the now long gone "Berwyn Theatre" on Cermak Road in west suburban Berwyn Illinois, way back in 1977.

New Haven Railroad, Fairbanks Morse model H 10 -44 diesel locomotive in Boston Massachusettes. September 3 rd, 1958. Robert Jennings photograph from the Dennis Schmidt collection.

I found this photograph on the internet at my Link page Fallen Flags.Org, which is located to the right of your computer screen at www.rr-fallenflags.org. This is absolutely one of my favorite sites.

The former New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad, was one of several North American railroads that was in a big hurry to retire steam locomotives A.S.A.P, and quickly replace them with modern efficient diesel electric locomotives. The New Haven had several diesel locomotives from Alco (American Locomotive Company), Fairbanks Morse & Company, General Electric, and eventually EMD on their roster by the late 1950's as well.

Railfan photographer Robert Jennings, photographed this New Haven Fairbanks Morse & Company H 10-44 min "Trainmaster" model roadswitcher diesel electric locomotive, passing through the city of Boston Massachusettes, way back in early September of 1958.

The locomotive is wearing the early New Haven diesel color scheme of orange and Dark Hunter green, wich I believe made it's debut during the late 1940's era on the NH.

Penn Central jade green boxcar circa 1976. From the internet.

I found this photograph on the internet.

Unfortunately...I do not remember what web site it was on. However once I dofind out, I will make sure that the photographer gets the proper credit for it, as this isn't one of my own photos.

One of my all time favorite railroad color schemes I fondly remember growing up in Chicago during the 1960's and 70's, was the "Jade" or "Empire" green originally used by the New York Central and later Penn Central railroads. This Penn Central green boxcar was photographed way back in 1976.

Thanks.

Former Seaboard System locomotives running light pass though Hayford Junction. Chicago Illinois. March 1990.

To some local southside Chicago railfans...there was nothing like the early years of the big merger that created today's mega CSX Transportation Company Railroad as we now know it.

I took this photograph on a chilly morning, back in early March of 1990. Fellow Chicago railfan Bob Cliff, is viewed photographing a westbound set of former Seaboard System General Electric roadswitchers now working for CSX Transportation Company, as they cross the single Grand Trunk Western crosstrack at Hayford Junction, traveling over the Belt Railway of Chicago tracks.

Bleeker's Bowl on West 95th Street. A very colorful place. Evergreen Park Illinois. (The last day.) Saturday, August 10th, 2013.

The south suburban village of Evergreen Park Illinois, lost a local neighborhood recreational institution this summer.

Bleeker's Bowl on West 95th Street, was always a fun and very colorful place to visit in Evergreen Park Illinois. However...after a steep loss in bowling league business due to hard economic times in recent years, the decission was made to sell the business and close for good on Saturday, August 10th, 2013.

This photograph was taken inside during the very last day of operation.

Bleeker's Bowl will be grealy missed by many.
