The October 1988 Berwyn Houby Day Parade. Berwyn Illinois.

Local seasonal autum festivals, have always been a fun after summer activity for many families to attend in the greater Chicagoland area.

I took this photograph way back in October of 1988. Several makeshift food vendor stands like one would normally see at a carnival, are lining both sides of West Cermak Road, in the west suburban village of Berwyn Illinois.

The event was the popular "Berwyn Houby Day Parade", which is an annual event honoring the original Eueopean "Czech" ethnic heritage of Berwyn's local population.

Berwyn's population today, is an ethnic melding pot consiting of ethnic heritage ranging from European, Mexican / Latino, Indian (India) Italian, and a few other extractions along the way.
