Argo Tower. ( Gone.) Summit Illinois USA. December 1990.

A favorite railfan landmark I had known in years past, was the old brick steam era interlocking tower that stood at Argo Junction in Summit Illinois. Located in an isolated but industrial area of land just south of the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal, this tower controlled train traffic on the Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad, and the Illinois Central ex Gulf Mobile & Ohio mainline. The tower was officially closed in 1993, and slowly demolished in stages over a two year period. A southbound unit grain train, is seen passing the tower on the Indiana Harbor Belt railroad line.
