I took this photo one morning, looking west toward South Harlem Avenue . I waited with My camera in hand when I spotted the headlight of an approaching eastbound freight train. It was actually an industrial switching local that serves the branchline spur that runs through the parking lot of the North Riverside Shopping Plaza. Distant as this view would turn out to be, this is a scene of everyday Chicago winter railroad operations nonetheless. The train is seen backing down the branchline spur pushing a small cut of cars northbound.
