I took this photo looking west on South Archer Avenue , just east of the intersection at South western Avenue in Chicago's Mc Kinley Park neighborhood. The winter sun is setting in the west, as an eastbound Chicago Transit Authority Orange line trains rounds the high elevated curve at Archer and Western Avenues, and will soon be heading into downtown Chicago. The CTA Orange line opened in 1993, and serves the Archer Heights, Brighton Park, Elsdon, Mc Kinley Park, and Bridgeport neighborhoods on Chicago's southwest side.

Brighton Junction is located just north of that low leval railroad viaduct in the background over South Archer Avenue, out of view to the right.
This point being the highest place on the Orange Line, allows good view of downtown
Behind you on Archer and 37th St in a small triangle building on the edge of McKinley Park is Lindy's Chili and cheeseburgers for as long as I can remember. Great Chicago food. I was surprised to find it is still there since it has been about forty years since the last time I stopped in there.
While we're on Archer Avenue, two more blocks to the NE on the corner of 35th St and Archer there is still a flat iron (triangle)bank building dating to the great depression, that is not what it seems to be. Inside it is a mob trucking company garage with the door on an alley that can't be seen from the street. In the 1970's it was the Biancofiore Trucking Company, BTI. The owner was wearing a silk suit the day I was there. It looks just like it did thirty years ago and the way it looked for thirty years before that.
Hi everyone!
Thank You for those interesting storys and discriptions of this area. I always enjoy a good bowl of chilli Myself. Lindy's Chilli is a little on the bland side today now that they merged with Gerties Ice Cream. When I get a bowl of their Turkey style chilli, ( My Favorite.) I always ask for a couple of packets of hot sauce. As I recall it used to have more Zing to it. Pepper comes in handy too.
Thank You.
