I took this photo in June of 1984 on Chicago's southwest side. We are looking south just north of West 51st Street, at what was the site of the Grand Trunk Western Railroad Elsdon Yard. A southbound caboose hop, is being handled by a locomotive acquired from the Detroit, Toledo & Ironton Railroad from a merger in 1981.Elsdon Yard was officially closed in October of 1983, but a small terminal operation was maintained here untill September of 1986.
