I took this photo one morning, in January of 1984. Seen here just outside of downtown Chicago Illinois alongside the St. Charles Air Line, are a quartet of Burlington Northern 1953 vintage EMD E-9 passenger locomotives. These locomotives were in their last decade of service, and would be retired in September of 1992. These locomotives were being switched onto the tracks leading to the Burlington Northern commuter coach yard and shops at West Roosevelt Road and South Canal Street.Wednesday, February 20, 2008
