Fireless industrial steam locomotive on display. Tinley Park Illinois. September 2006., a photo by Eddie from Chicago on Flickr.
I took this photo around sunset, back in September of 2006.
A local icon of the steam era on dislay in south suburban Tinley Park Illinois USA, is this 0-4-0T industrial fireless steam locomotive. Fireless locomotives were economical, and used in industries were regular steam locomotive firebox coal or oil fires were considered hazardous.
This little switcher, was donated to the town of Tinley Park and placed on display for the town's centenial in the year of 1992.
Rumor has it, that this locomotive was originally the Swift meat packing company's in plant switcher locomotive.
