I found this historic electric streetcar photo from the Chicago Surface Lines Company at My Link page Dave's Electric Railroads www.davesrailpix.com located to the right of Your computer screen.

My own Mother, grew up on the near south and west side of Chicago near this photo location during the 1930's , 40's and 50's era.

Seen here courtessy of the Bill Volkmer photo collection, is a southbound Chicago Surface Lines electric streetcar on South Kedzie Avenue near the intersection of West Jackson Boulevard during the 1940's. Notice the total lack of strip malls in those days. Just storefronts on the main streets of Chicago.

This location, is near the site of what was the CSL Kedzie Avenue carhouse electric streetcar maintenance barn. The old former CSL Kedzie Avenue carhouse, was converted to service and maintain electric trolleybuses from the post 1947 succesor company Chicago Transit Authority in the year of 1955.

The old brick Kedzie carhouse was eventually demolished, and replaced with a big modern transit bus garagae at the Jackson and Kedzie location today.
