A shower of sparks at night on the Burlington Northern Railroad. Berwyn Illinois. March 1983.

I took this photograph way back in late March of 1983.

I had just recently purchased my first 35 mm camera, a Pentex M.E Super, and this was one of my first attempts at taking a night time railfan photograph.

A Burlington Northern Railroad EMD SW series yard switcher running light, passes my photo location at South Oak Park Avenue and West Windsor Street heading westbound, in west suburban Berwyn Illinois.

Notice the sparks flying from the smokestacks on this old 1950's era EMD diesel switcher.
