The steam train being towed back to the shop after a mechanical failure. The Illinois Railway Museum. Union Illinois. September 1982.

I took this photograph way back in September of 1982.

Mechanical failures are nothing new to operating railroad museums, and the Illinois Railway Museum experienced this one during the September 1982 Member's Weekend celebration.

Recently acquired Milwaukee Road Fairbanks Morse diesel switcher # 765, is viewed towing Tuskegee Railroad Baldwin 2-6-2 steam locomotive # 101 and train back to the shop, after a very sticky brake failure.

This could be the Illinois Railway Museum's equivalent, of the AAA Chicago Motor Club.
