An early 1970's era Illinois Central Gulf Railroad switching local passes through the yard.

I took this photograph last year, at the Oak Park Society of Model Engineers,H.O Scale Model Railroad Club in Oak Park Illinois.

I grew up in Chicago during the 1960's and 70's era, and enjoy modeling the trains from this era.

Passing through one of the yards on the club layout, is my own representation of a circa 1972 / early merger era local freight train from the former Illinois Central Gulf Railroad.

The ICG was created from the August 10th, 1972 merger of the Illinois Central, and the Gulf, Mobile & ohio Railroads. This train represents how one of the ICG trains may have looked like, in the immediate wake of the merger itself during the upcoming days and weeks of it all after the fact.
