Parking meters. A vanishing urban icon on Chicago area streets. Evanston Illinois. Wednsday, October 2nd, 2013.

A recent casualty along city streets these days, are the decades old parking meters we once took for granted in the city of Chicago Illinois, and the various outlying suburban towns.

Replaced in recent years by parking pay boxes that issue receipt tickets that you place on your cars dashboard with the time printed on them at time of issue, the remaining parking meters like these two shown here in downtown north suburban Evanston Illinois, are now on very borrowed time.

Better photograph these before they are gone for good.

Thanks.
