Late 1960's caboose color scheme transition era on the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad.

The 1960's were a time for change on the former Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad.

I photographed this recreated historic 1960's era transitional scene, at the Oak Park Society of Model Engineers,H.O Scale Model Railroad Club in Oak Park Illinois last night.

It is approximately 1967. The Santa Fe began rebuilding their steel cupola caboose fleet at their Cleburne Texas railroad shops in 1966. The caboose on the left wears the rebuilt post 1966 color scheme, while the caboose to the right wears the original and very "Plain" Santa Fe caboose color scheme.

These two cabooses are Athearn models.

Thanks.
Eddie K.
