A northbound Conrail auto rack train passing through Chicago Ridge Junction. Chicago Ridge Illinois. October 1989.

I took this photograph while I was out enjoying a Sunday
afternoon ride on my 12 speed mountain bike, way back
in October of 1989.

A fast moving northbound Conrail auto rack train, is viewed
passing the now long gone Chicago Ridge tower near Oak
lawn Illinois. The train was traveling over the Indiana Harbor
Belt Railroad, and was passing through the Norfolk Southern /
Metra ex Wabash crosstracks, at Chicago Ridge Junction.

Chicago Ridge tower was closed in 1993, and sat abandoned
and forelorn, until it was finally demolished in 1995, after a
series of arson fires of suspicious origin.
