The safety valve pops on the former Chicago Brookfield Zoo steam locomotive # 242. The Hesston Steam Museum. Hesston Indiana. Saturday, September 27th, 2014.

I took this photograph recently, at the Hesston Steam Museum.

Located in the town of Hesston Indiana, near the neighboring
border town of New Buffalo Michigan, this is a fun and very
family friendly seasonal attraction worth visiting any year.

Former Chicago Brookfield Zoo steam locomotive # 242, is
viewed simmering away at the museum's Hesston Junction
depot between runs. With the steam preasure building up in
the boiler, the locomotive's safety valves have just popped
open, to release the excess steam preasure, and prevent an
unfortunate boiler explosion from happening.

Safety is number # 1 here at the Hesston Steam Museum.
