Hello everyone!
Greetings from snowy Chicago Illinois!
I took this photo one morning in north suburban Norridge Illinois, back in January of 2008. Seen here on the west side of North Harlem Avenue / Illinois U.S Route # 43 near West Montrose Avenue, is the locally famous Maurice Lenell Cookie Factory and their store known as "The Cookie Jar". Depending on what time of the day You are in the area, You can witness the fresh cookies being boxed through the factory window. The delightfull fresh cookie smell is what snack cravings are made of here in Chicagoland. Mmm!
Great deals on various cookie assortmaent packages can be found in The Cookie Jar store, plus there are samples to be enjoyed for your tasting pleasure on the counters throughout the store.
The American Mattress and David's Bridal stores to the right, was the sight of the Axel Roller Rink wich had closed around 1983. The Axel Roller Rink building is still intact, but the American Mattress and David's Bridal storefronts are merely cosmetic additions to the existing structure.

Been here lots of times! I love the free samples.
I have happy memorys of this photo location . From 1975 to approximately 1979, My Family would occasionally take Me, My Sister and a Cousin to the Axel Roller Rink next door for a Sunday afternoon skating session. Many times, We would stop for a box or two of Maurice Lenell Cookies and a handfull of those tasty free samples on the counter here as well.
Thank You.

I USED TO GO ROLLER SKATING AT THE HUB, THEN GO TO MAURICE LENELL FOR THEIR HOT COOKIES!
MY CHILDHOOD IS RUINED!
The store and factory are now CLOSED. The Theaters will operate for a year. Residents will enjoy their new COSTCO. And the town is salivating over the expected new tax revenues. Wait a minute...Isn't this a depressed economy ????
