I took this photograph this past Wednsday evening, at the Oak Park
Society of Model Engineers,H.O Scale Model Railroad Club in Oak
Park Illinois. OPSME on Facebook.
One of the more unique streamlined passenger trains of the past, that
once roamed the rails of the greater Chicagoland area, were the light
weight General Motors built Aerotrain streamliners built in the 1950's.
The former Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific Railroad, used these light
weight streamlined passenger trains, in Chicago to Joliet commuter -
train service, until the mid 1960's. Two partial sets of the prototype -
have been preserved. One is at the National Railroad Museum in -
Green Bay Wisconsin, while the other is at the National Museum of
Transport on Kirkwood Missouri.
Thanks Henry.
