I took this photograph back in September.
Many years ago, there was a song which I believe may have been from a Broadway musical stage play, that featured a lyric that said the"Everything old is new again".
One of those old things from the past that apparently became new again, was a former roadside drive in restaurant from the 1950's era in Des Plaines Illinois, that was restored and reopened in 2012.
This sign advertising a local Chicago area fast food favorite known as a "Maxwell Street Polish Sausage sandwich", was photographed at a place known as Rand Red Hots.
Rand Red Hots, is located on U.S Rt # 12 / Rand Road in northwest suburban Des Plaines Illinois, just northwest of the diagonal intersection at U.S Rt # 45 / River Road.
This building with obvious architectural heritage as a former 1950's era roadside drive in restaurant, was used until recently as a local privately owned used car dealership.
The owner of Bob O's Hot Dogs on West Irving Park Road in Chicago purchased this old roadside establishment, and restored it to it's original 1950's era beauty and purpose. Fresh cut french fries are also served here.
Thanks.
