Heavy duty black double railroad drawbridge over the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal. Located immediately west of South Western Avenue, and immediately north of Ash Street junction. Chicago Illinois.

This photograph was recently E mailed to me by an old friend of my family named Gary Piont.

Seen here, is the huge heavy duty double drawbridge located immediately west of South Western Avenue,on the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal.

Originally a drawbridge, but long since has been operated and maintained as a stationary bridge since at least the late 1950's.

This bridge has been unofficially nicknamed "Black Jack Bridge" by Gary and a handful of local Chicago railfans.

Interesting shot. This view of those bridges was taken from the north side of the canal, not the south side where Ash Street Tower is, correct? If so, it's a rarely-seen perspective.
