Suburban Transit GM fishbowl windshield bus at South Archer and Harlem Avenues. Chicago Illinois. April 1988.

Hi everyone!

Welcome aboard the "Bus Day" edition of Eddie's Railfan Page, from the city of Chicago Illinois USA.

I took this photograph way back in April of 1988. We are facing east at the intersection of South Archer and Harlem Avenues at the Chicago city limits, immediately east of the border at southwest suburban Summit Illinois.

A former Suburban Transit 1970's era 40 foot General Motors fishbowl windshield transit bus, is viewed preparingto make a left or southbound turn on to Harlem Avenue, enroute to southwest suburban Orland Park Illinois.

Suburban ransit always had one of the most unique and pleasingly asthetic color schemes amongst the once many former suburban bus companies that once operated in the greater Chicagoland area.

Thanks.
Eddie K.

Nice shot. I remember these buses well. St. Laurence HS in Burbank, IL chartered them to pick up students on many routes throughout the area. We'd sometimes get a fishbowl bus and often the older models. 25 cents per ride back in the mid-1970s.
