I took this photograph after work one afternoon, back in March of 2007.

 

We are on location at Hawthorne Junction, at the immediate Chicago

city limits border at west suburban Cicero Illinois. I was train spotting

along the Belt Railway of Chicago north -south line, when this unique

northbound Canadian Pacific Railroad intermodal transfer train came

slowly heading northbound, and crossing the Canadian National ex

Illinois Central Railroad crosstracks at Hawthorne Junction.

 

The steel utility signal cabinet shed in the photograph, is where the

old wooden steam era "Belt Tower" used to stand prior to 1990.

 

The hill to the left of the freight train was the site of the abandoned

Bell Air Drive In Movie Theatre in neighboring Cicero Illinois.
