The original 1947 Chicago Transit Authority logo. The Illinois Railway Museum. Union Illinois.

I took this photo, during a visit to the Illinois Railway Museum, located in the town of Union Illinois USA.

Seen here on the side of the museum's preserved Chicago Transit Authority 1948 post war PCC streamlined streetcar # 4391, is the original red circular logo, from when the Chicago Transit Authority began operations on October 1st, 1947.

The CTA introduced their 2nd logo, in the year of 1951. The 2nd logo was circular just like this example with the same style of graphics, but with a green background instead.

You can learn a lot about preserved streetcar and transit equipment when visiting the Illinois ailway Museum, by simply taking the time to notice and photograph some of the details on the displays.
