An Illinois Central Railroad steam powered freight train in H.O Scale.
I photographed this video last week Wednsday evening, at the Oak Park Society of Model Engineers,H.O scale Model Railroad Club in Oak Park Illinois. The prototype Illinois Central Railroad, was a late user of it's remaining steam locomotives. Even though the Illinois Central began to dieselize it's freight trains gradually during the 1950's, steam was used on some parts of their system until 1960. Unfortunately...only a small handful of Illinois Central steam locomotives actually made it to preservation. Seen here is a Bachman Spectrum Series model of a Baldwin U.S.R.A light 4-8-2 "Mountain" type steam locomotive wearing Illinois Central colors and markings, pulling a long freight train like the prototype I.C 4-8-2's did many years ago.
