The Helicopters ride at the Adventureland Amusement Park. (Gone) Addison Illinois circa 1970's. In business from 1961 to 1977.
Many years ago prior to the late 1970's and early 1980's era, there were once many seasonal family owned and operated amusement parks in the greater Chicagoland area. Adventureland which was located in northwest suburban Addison Illinois was one of those places. After the huge Marriott's Great America theme park opened in Gurnee Illinois in 1976, Adventureland could not compete, and closed for good at the end of the 1977 season. This mid 1970's era photograph, is from the Bloomingdale Illinois Public Library collection, which can be viewed on the internet.
