Open windows on Chicago, North Shore And Milwaukee Railroad car # 714. The Illinois Railway Museum. Union Illinois. Saturday, May 18th, 2013., a photo by Eddie from Chicago on Flickr.
I took this photograph during a recent May 2013 visit to the Illinois Railway Museum in Union Illinois. www.irm.org
The prototype electric interurban railroad Chicago, north Shore And Milwaukee, did not feature climate controlled air conditioned passenger trains back in the day. The open windows on preserved car # 714 shown here in the East Union Depot, demonstrate that a ride from Chicago to Milwaukee, required open windows to help keep somewhat cool at high speeds on hot summer days.
