Chicago's annual neighborhood summer carnivals.

One of my all time favorite local activities growing up on the southwest side of
Chicago many years ago, were attending a number of the local often church -
sponsored neighborhood summer carnivals and local civic festivals.

One of my favorite southwest Chicago neighborhood carnivals during the 1980's,
was the annual Saint Clare of Montefalco catholic church parish summer carnival.
This carnival was held every year in early June, at their property on West 54th Street
and South Washtenaw Avenue. This was the approximate border area where Chicago's
Gage Park and Chicago Lawn neighborhoods met.

This advertising poster photographed in a local 55th Street store window, was from
the June 1988 carnival at the Saint Clare of Montefalco Parish event.

Thanks.
