Growing up on the near southwest side of the city of Chicago Illinois, one railroad I had come to know and appreciate, was the former Illinois Central Railroad. I lived approximately one mile north of their Iowa Division Mainline back in My old neighborhood.

The Illinois Central was a unique railroad, as it was one of the last North American railroad to operate steam locomotives in regualr mainline service until 1960.
