The Oak Park Society of Model Engineers H.O Scale Model Railroad Club.Oak Park Illinois USA. Wednsday, June 29th, 2011.

I took this photo this past Wednsday night after work.

One of My favorite photo locations on the Oak Park Society of Model Engineers H.O Scale Model Railroad Club layout, is the swing bridge over an eventually to be scenicked river scene.

When I was growing up in Chicago many years ago, I lived approximately one mile north of the Chicago Sanitary And Ship Canal.

Although most commercial shipping traffic had left this waterway many years ago, and all of the river freight traffic today travels via barges and towboats...there are still many still standing but inoperable and decommisioned draw bridges and swing bridges on the Chicago Sanitary and Ship canal today.

There are still working draw bridges on this waterway at South Canal Street, South Halsted Street and South Ashland Avenue, as there are boat storage yards located at these locations.

This layout location brought back many happy southside Chicago memories for Me.

Thanks.
