Chicago Surface Lines car # 3142 during the World War 2 Days event. The Illinois Railway Museum. Union Illinois. Saturday, May 18th, 2013.

I took this photograph during a May 2013 visit to the Illinois Railway Museum, located in the town of Union Illinois. www.irm.org

The museum was celebrating a special event that was advertised as "World War 2 Days". This event featured several displays of privately owned World War military equipment, people walking around in 1930's and 40's era "period" civillian clothes, members of several World War 2 Re enactment societies both Allied and Axis, and staged combat battles in the museum's rear field with plenty of gunfire and costumed actors.

A nice touch to help capture the feel of World War 2 times back in the early to mid 1940's, was the simple "Low Budget" sign on the front of Chicago Surface Lines car # 3142, encouraging people to "Buy War Bonds".
