An early 1950's era scene from the Atchinson, Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad.

I took this photograph last year, at the Oak Park Society of Model Engineers,H.O Scale Model Railroad Club in Oak Park Illinois.

The models that are shown here, represent 1950's era equipment from the former Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad.

The Santa Fe like most American railroads after World War 2 had ended, operated their remaining steam locomotives until the early to mid 1950's, but were also in a hurry to modernize with new modern diesel locomotives.

The model to the left is an IHC model of a generic / facsimile A,T & S,F 4-8-2 steam locomotive from the 1920's and 30's era. The locomotive and cars to the right are being pulled by a Bachman model of an American Locomotive Company (ALCO) model S 4 yard switcher painted in the Santa Fe's 1950's era "Zebra Stripe" color scheme used from 1950 to 1960.. The plain box car brown Santa Fe caboose is an Athearn model which is correct for the period. The cars are typical for the period on most any railroad's local freight trains.
