Chicago's Brighton Park neighborhood loses a longtime community landmark! The White Castle Hamburgers fast food resturant on the northwest corner of South Archer and Kedzie Avenues. Demolished 2013. R.I.P

For many years, there was a White Castle Hamburgers restaurant at the northwest corner of South Archer and Kedzie Avenues in Chicago's Brighton Park neighborhood.

Two of my closest friends have informed me within this past week, that the Brighton Park White Castle was recently closed and demolished. A popular neighborhood fast food eatery at the intersection of South Archer and Kedzie Avenues for many decades, now a vacant lot on the corner for the immediate time being.

I took this photograph of the original and very soon to be demolished 1960's era White Castle at South Archer and Kedzie Avenues, way back in March of 1985. The place was demolished within two weeks of this photograph, and replaced with a "New" and much larger White Castle in 1985, that featured more parking accomodations and a drive thru window.

Brighton Park has just lost a longtime neighborhood landmark and eatery.

Thanks.
Eddie K.

Currently its an empty lot. the foundation has been filled in. There is nothing left but some blue light poles to tell you that a White Castle was there
