Eastbound Norfolk Southern freight train departs the Belt Railway of Chicago's Clearing Yard, passing a snow shoveling track maintenance crew. Chicago Illinois. January 1987.

I took this photograph way back in January of 1987.

An all morning Chicago snow storm has finally stopped falling, as a Belt Railway of Chicago track crew takes the time to shovel out a switch west of Hayford Junction.

An eastbound Norfolk Southern transfer train is now departing from the BRC's Clearing Yard, and is passing by the track crew on this winter afternoon.
