Baca's Cook Shop on 51st Street.

This building seen here, in december of 1983,was where many a local Railroad worker -truck driver or factory worker would go to have lunch.
Baca's Cook Shop was a Bar and Grill located on Chicago's southwest side, on 51st street just
east of Lawndale Avenue. Many railroad crews from the Grand Trunk Western railroad and the nearby Santa Fe would dine here and swap stories with their counterparts in the industry.

Nice shots of the Old GTW Equipment and Structures. That GTW Blue is going quick to the deadline or scrappers.

Ahh yes, Baca's Cook Shop! Part of an old memory of riding my bike past this place and smelling the food. I always wondered what kind of rooms they had upstairs. You don't see too many of these old buildings with a sign advertising "Rooms".

Great bit of history!

Hello to all the Shy annonymous Bloggers out there. This is Eddie.

I believe that it is in My "May or June" Archive postings, that You will find a nice photograph looking
west on 51st Street of the old 2 story Elsdon train station. It was demolished in November of 1983. This Yard was a favorite railfan hangout of mine before I became an amature railfan photographer.
This was a nice place and I miss it.

Thank You.
Your host and photographer
Eddie.
