I took this now rare historic photo back in October of 1983.
Several EMD roadswitcher locomotives from the Grand Trunk Western, and the former Detroit, Toledo & Ironton railroad acquired through merger in 1981, are viewed idling on the ready tracks at the GTW Elsdon Yard locomotive terminal and roundhouse at West 49th Street near South Kedzie Avenue,
This was taken during what was te last week of operation here.
The GTW was in the process of closing Elsdon Yard. One week later, this facility with a 1914 built roundhouse would be abandoned.
