Historic photo! A Burger King sponsored disaster relief promotion, after the 1989 earthquake that struck San Francisco California. Chicago Illinois. November 1989., a photo by Eddie from Chicago on Flickr.
Hi everyone!
Welcome aboard Eddie's Railfan Page, from the city of Chicago Illinois USA.
I was going through some boxes of my old photographs that I had taken during the 1980's, and found a few historic treasures that I had taken in the collection....and somehow forgot about them for many years.
On October 15th, 1989, the San Francisco bay area of northern California suffered an earthquake during game 2 of the 1989 baseball world series which was being held in the city of San Francisco California at the time.
This photograph was taken facing south, at the southwest corner of South Kedzie Avenue and West 27th Street, in Chicago's Little Village neighborhood on the near southwest side of the city.
This was one of those many "Fabled" random snap shots that I had taken for the heck of it all with my 35 mm camera, and was glad that I did in the long run.
The executives at the corporate offices of the Burger King chain of fast food hamburger restaurants, decided to toss their hats in the ring, and sponsor a special disaster relief promotion to help the victims in the wake of the October 15th 1989 San Francisco California earthquake.
This free standing sign, has the former Burger King logo from many years ago.
Thanks.
Eddie K.
