A southbound Canadian Pacific train approaching Hawthorne Junction. Chicago / Cicero Illinois. January 2007.

Wintertime is a great time to photograph trains in the greater Chicagoland area or most anywhere, however..it does help to be a litle tough and rugged to stand up to some of natures bitter cold outside conditions.

I took this photograph at Hawthorne Junction one brightly sunlit but bitterly cold morning back in January of 2007.

A Canadian Pacific transfer train heading southbound over the Belt Railway of Chicago tracks, meets a northbound transfer train of unknown origin, as this train was already passing through the junction, and I missed seeing what railroad's locomotives were pulling this train anyway. Oh well. Thats railfanning for you.
