I took this lovely early September evening photograph after work one day, in suburban Western Springs Illinois. This is a CSX freight train operating on the BNSF Railway via a trackage rights agreement. This railway mainline is the former Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad. On March 2nd 1970, this railroad and the Great Northern - Northern Pacific -and Spokane Portland and Seatle Railroads merged and became the Burlington Northern Railroad. In the year 1995, the Burlington Northern and the Atchinson , Topeka & Santa Fe Railroads merged and became todays BNSF Railway.
