Norfolk Southern transfer waiting by the "New" Metra Wrightwood commuter rail station. Chicago Illinois USA. Early January 2008.

I was passing through Chicago's Ashburn and wrightwood neighborhoods one morning in January of 2008, and spotted this very unique photo opportunity. Seen here just west of the intersection of South Kedzie Avenue, West 79th Street, and Southwest Highway,( Columbus.)
are two modern General Electric AC 4400 CW Wide Cab diesel freight locomotives from the Norfolk Southern Railroad, waiting to depart nearby Landers Yard with a transfer train. The Metra Wrightwood station was erected in recent years, and tastefully replaces a very run down Landers flagstop depot just east of South Kedzie Avenue. This was the former Wabash railroad.
