I took this photo last week, in northwest suburban Des Plaines Illinois.

This wide vision caboose, was once used as a landmark to promote a local real estate development back in the 1980's known as "Oakton Junction".

I photographed this caboose back here in October of 1988 with My unfortunately now deceased Cousin Richard Horvath ( 1955 - 2008)

Apparently...the Oakton Junction commercial real estate development site has fallen on hard times. The site is abandoned, and the caboose is now surounded by a temporary chin link fence.

That still hasn't stopped local vandals from kicking in the door on the north end of the caboose, and grafitti tagging the east side of it.

The times are tough in the greater Chicagoland area today.
