The Oak Park Society of Model Engineers H.O Scale Model Railroad Club. Oak Park Illinois USA. May 2011.

I took this photo recently, during a May 2011 visit to the Oak Park Society of Model Engineers H.O Scale Model Railroad Club.

Man! There is nothing like seeing one of Your personal railfan memories in miniature! Yes!

During the 1980's, I spent a lot of time railfanning the former Burlington Northern Railroad mainline, in west suburban La Grange Illinois.

Although the railroads that had made up the Burlington Northern through merger in 1970 had became fallen flag railroads many years ago, during the 1980's...It was very comon to see an occasional box car, gondola, covered hopper or flatcar from the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy, the Great Northern, The Northern Pacific , The Frisco, or even the Spokane, Portland & Seatle rolling through La Grange on any given BN freight train during the 1980's.

There were still plenty of now weathered and fading cars from these pre 1970 railroads, coupled on to the BN freight trains back then.
I would occasionally see a Great Northern Railroad box car in the 1967 Big Sky Blue color scheme passingthrough La Grange Illinois. Unfortunately, It was usually when I either didn't have a camera with Me, or when I couldn't get it out fast enough.

Happy memories from My early railfan days!

Thanks.
Eddie K.
