Early merger era ICG train circa 1972 starting up.

I photographed this digital live sound video recently, at the Oak Park Society of Model Engineers,H.O Scale Model Railroad Club.

Happy memories are often created in miniature for some of us railfans like Myself and a few others out there. It is great to see them roll by in front of us on the club layout on any given visit.

I grew up on the near southwest side of Chicago during the 1960's and 70's era, and I fondly remember the early days of the former Illinois Central Gulf Railroad occasionally.

The Illinois Central Gulf, was created from the August 10th 1972 merger of the Gulf, Mobile & Ohio, and the Illinois Central railroads. My H.O Scale train shown here, showcases the early 1972 / 1973 era mix of equipment from the early days of the ICG as I remembered it when I was just 10 years old back then.

Thanks.
