I took this photograph after work one day, during that "Infamous" Chicago deep freeze of February 2007.
The entire Chicago area was undergoing a severe deep freeze condition at the time of this photograph, that found daytime high temperatures in the single digits, and nighttime lows dipping down to 10 to 15 degrees below zero. Water main pipes were bursting underneath Chicago's many streets.
With sunset not far away, these Canadian National diesel locomotives, are viewed idling at the former Illinois Central Railroad's Crawford Yard in bitter cold conditions.
This yard was closed by the Canadian National in 2011, and the tracks were removed.
