I took this photo after work one evening, in March of 2007. We are looking north at the crosstracks, at Chicago's Hayford Junction. Hayford Junction is located at West 75th Street and South Central Park Avenue, in Chicago's Ashburn neighborhood. I made numerous railfan photo visits with My camera here during the 1980's. I visited Hayford Junction regularily from 1984 until 1993 and had then stopped for many years.
Upon My first visit since 1993, many things had changed here. One thing that delightfuly hasn't, is the constant and steady flow of east and westbound transfer trains to and from Clearing Yard over the Belt Railway of Chicago tracks. Seen here is a westbound BNSF Railway intermodal transfer train heading to the Belt Railway of Chicago's Clearing Yard just before sunset.
