Chicago, North Shore & Milwaukee interurban railroad logo. The Illinois Railway Museum. Union Illinois. Friday, July 3rd 2009.

2013 marks the 50th anniversary year, of the end of service and abandonment of the Chicago, North Shore And Milwaukee Railroad.

Most of the former interurban right of way through Chicago's northern suburbs, is now a heavy electric utility coridor with high tension overhead power lines and dirt service roads. Not much was saved of the former North Shore Line's online structures except for maybe a few stations, but luckilly several of their cars and some maintenance equipment is preserved at the Illinois Railway Museum in Union Illinois. www.irm.org

Several other cars from the North Shore, are also preserved at a handful of railroad museums in the U.S today.
