Eastbound Norfolk Southern freight train departs the Belt Railway of Chicago's Clearing Yard, passing a snow shoveling track maintenance crew. Chicago Illinois. January 1987.

I took this photograph one Saturday afternoon, way back in January of 1987.

It is now early afternoon, and an all morning heavy lake effect snowstorm has finally stopped falling on the city of Chicago Illinois.

With a Belt Railway of Chicago track maintenance crew shoveling out a track switch, an eastbound Norfolk Southern transfer train departs from Clearing Yard.
