Be sure to visit the Eisenhower Public Library located at 4613 North Oketo Avenue in Harwood Heights Illinois on Saturday afternoon, March 16th from 1:00 until 3:00 PM in the upstairs meeting room. The Eisenhower Public Library will be welcoming local Chicago historian, photographer and internet site host Edward Kwiatkowski.
 
Eddie will be hosting a multi media musical photo slideshow, video and lecture presentation, about the early years of the Chicago Transit Authority with it's official start up of operation on October 1st, 1947 and the immediate years that followed.
 
The city streetcars and buses from the predecessor company Chicago Surface Lines will be shown, as will the very "Antique" 1920's era and earlier rapid transit elevated and subway lines equipment inherited from the former Chicago Rapid Transit Company. Buses from the Chicago Motor Coach Company will also be seen in a few photographs as well.
 
Relive this memorable era hodge podge, non standard old and new streetcars, buses and rapid transit equipment performing Chicago's daley transit operations as they were back in the day.
 
Relive the era of electric streetcars, aging rapid transit equipment, old gasoline powered buses, as well as propane buses, electric trolleybuses, and early diesel buses.
 
This presentation is set to historic authentic period American music ranging from Ragtime Piano, Dixieland Jazz, 1940's era Big Band Standards, to early 1960's era Modern Jazz.
