A former Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific Railroad covered hopper. Franklin Park Illinois. December 2006., a photo by Eddie from Chicago on Flickr.
One thing I really enjoy about railfanning on location with a camera in hand, is finding those occasional freight cars from fallen flag railroads of the past, that still have yet to be repainted.
This former Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific 54 ft covered hopper car, was still wearing the mid 1970's era light blue Rock Island color scheme, but now had Iowa, Chicago & Eastern reporting marks stenciled in on the lower left side of the car.
The Chicago Rock Island & Pacific Railroad was bankrupt and went out of business as a railroad in 1980.
