This 1950's era Detroit michigan photograph, was photographed either on the Woodward or gratiot streetcar line toward the end of the line.

I found this photograph at the internet site Dave's Electric Railroads, which is located to the right of your computer screen at www.davesrailpix.com

The 1950's would the see the ending of electric streetcar service in many North American citties, and the impending conversion to economical transit buses.

This photograph shown here, was taken during the 1950's, in the city of Detroit Michigan USA. Detroit's transit agency back then, was known as the "Detroit Department of Street Railways". This company operated electric city streetcars until 1956, and electric trolley buses until 1961.

Yes, it was a fascinating era of commuting by public transportation in most any North American city during the 1950's.

Thanks.
Eddie K.
